i## Problem
In an io.Connect Desktop window that is set to always on top, native HTML popup controls (<select> dropdowns, date pickers and color pickers) may open behind the window or appear cut off.
Prerequisites
Access/tools
- Access to your io.Connect Desktop installer or distribution channel, so you can upgrade.
- Access to the io.Connect Desktop logs, so you can check your build and mode.
Environment
- Product/component: io.Connect Desktop, window management
- OS: Windows
- Affected:
- io.Connect Desktop 10 in Advanced mode (
"advancedMode": trueinsystem.json), confirmed on10.3.0-build.260630T0559 - an io.Connect Desktop 9.15 pre-release build
- io.Connect Desktop 10 in Advanced mode (
- Fixed in:
- io.Connect Desktop 10.3.0, build
10.3.0-build.260702T1005or a later 10.3.0 build - io.Connect Desktop 9.15.0.1 or later
- io.Connect Desktop 10.3.0, build
Instructions
1. Recognize the Symptoms
In a window that stays on top of other windows:
- A
<select>dropdown seems not to open when clicked. The list opens behind the window, but the arrow keys and Enter still change the value. - A date picker or color picker is missing or partly cut off. It’s hidden wherever it overlaps the window.
The same controls work normally in windows that aren’t set to always on top.
2. Confirm You Are Affected
Both of these must be true:
- The window is always on top, for example
"onTop": trueor"onTop": "always"in its app definition, or asetOnTop(true)call. - (io.Connect Desktop 10 only) The platform runs in Advanced mode. Open
application.login your logs folder (see If the Issue Persists) and find the last startup line (the log keeps earlier sessions):
platform: win32, advancedMode: true, productVersion: 10.3.0, buildVersion: 10.3.0-build.260630T0559, buildType: stable
If it shows advancedMode: false, this article doesn’t apply. Contact support instead.
3. Fix: Upgrade io.Connect Desktop
Upgrade to one of the builds listed under Fixed in above.
Important: on io.Connect Desktop 10, check the build number, not just the version. Some 10.3.0 builds don’t include the fix. Compare the
buildVersionvalue inapplication.logwith the build listed above.
4. Verify the Fix
After upgrading:
- Check your build. On io.Connect Desktop 10, the last startup line in
application.logshould show10.3.0-build.260702T1005or a later 10.3.0 build. On io.Connect Desktop 9, the version in Windows Settings > Apps should be 9.15.0.1 or later (the log shows only the first three parts). - Open the always-on-top window and click a
<select>dropdown. The list should appear in front of the window, and clicking an option should select it. - Open a date picker and a color picker. Both should be fully visible.
If You Can’t Upgrade Yet
Use one of these workarounds until you can upgrade:
- For
<select>dropdowns: click the control, then choose a value with the arrow keys and press Enter. - Turn off always on top for windows that use these controls: set
"onTop": falsein the app definition and remove anysetOnTop(true)call.
If the Issue Persists
If the problem continues after upgrading:
- Confirm your exact build: on io.Connect Desktop 10, from the last startup line in
application.log(step 2); on io.Connect Desktop 9, from Windows Settings > Apps. Don’t rely on the version number alone. - Record a short video of the behavior.
- Open a support ticket that references this article, and include:
- your exact build from step 1
- your io.Connect Desktop logs from
%LocalAppData%\interop.io\io.Connect Desktop\UserData\<ENV>-<REGION>\logs - the screen recording
Note: on io.Connect Desktop 10, changing hardware acceleration settings won’t fix this issue. It occurs with hardware acceleration on and off.
Applies to: io.Connect Desktop on Windows. Reproduced on 10.3.0-build.260630T0559 in Advanced mode and verified fixed on 10.3.0-build.260702T1005. 10.4 and later not tested. 9.10.1.1 not affected.
